Srikanth Chary started learning music at the age of six from Vidwan Devakottai Sri Narayana Iyengar. Later he learned from Smt. Kalyani Sarma of Bombay and the famed violinist Kum. A. Kanyakumari. Since 1981 Srikanth has been training under the music maestro Padmabhushan Lalgudi Sri G. Jayaraman. Srikanth’s musical style exemplifies the principles of Sri Jayaraman’s bani, which is well known for its purity of sound and rhythm, its emphasis on tonal perfection, and its sparkling creativity. Srikanth has performed widely. He is the recipient of several awards, including the Best Veena Player honor from the prestigious Madras Music Academy.
